Project Title

The Trans Papua Expedition 2012

This six month expedition aimed to cross the remote province of Indonesian West Papua via two ancient inter tribal trade routes. Covering a distance in excess of 1000km on-foot and by packraft Will and his team entered some of New Guinea's most isolated forests encountering remote tribes, deadly snakes and savage whitewater. Will ultimately mapped a foot and canoe route leading to the southern coasts which was once responsible for populating the Papuan highlands, linking the region in a chain of inter tribal trade that stood for centuries.
