Project Title

Music Among Deaf Communities in the USA

Year of Fellowship - 1992

Exploring how deaf people in various settings both view and use music in the USA, compared to here in the UK. In the UK music within deaf education, for example, was always used as a means to an end in the days when sign language was banned, but such a situation never occurred in the USA. My findings would help with developing more music opportunities for deaf people and those who live and work with them.
