Project Title

“From Infants to Internationals”

Year of Fellowship: 2001

A massive impact in my life and career came in March 2001. I was awarded a Winston Churchill scholarship to study grassroots swimming programmes in Australia. I started my project in May 2001 with attendance at the “World Swim Coaches Conference” in Brisbane. I was invited by the Australian National Team head coach to observe and assist the team’s training camp in preparation for the World Championships. I visited several swim clubs in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Melbourne, attended talent id camps, seminars, competitions and many teaching programmes gathering information that would improve swimming in the north east.
