Project Title

Criminal Justice & Community Responses to Domestic Violence in the Americas

This Fellowship explored highly organised and well resourced criminal justice approaches to addressing domestic violence in North America, starting in Deluth and Minneapolis (Minnesota USA) where the current British model orginated. Also looked at a strong 'enforcement model in Houston, Texas before moving through Central and South America to experience 'bottom up' community approaches in Countries that have comparitively poorly resourced criminal justice agencies and rely on local solutions to local problems. Stopping points included Belize, Nicaragua, Peru and Brazil.

Outcomes: Brought back a raft of new ideas, some are being implemented through our Charity and through the Courts. It was inspiring, motivating and will definitely make a difference.
