40th Anniversary Meeting and Annual General Meeting 2014!

A BIG Thank you to all Fellows and Friends that attended the East Pennine Association of Churchill Fellows - 40th Anniversary Meeting and Annual Genera Meeting 2014 at the Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds. It was a fantastic turn out of 84, with some fantastic speakers and presentations - a true insight into some extraordinary Churchill Adventures.

Durham Pedal Power takes Wallace and Gromit to South East Asia!

A British filmmaker and festival director from County Durham is strengthening ties with the People’s Democratic Republic of Lao by taking a pedal-powered cinema to the capital, Vientiane, along with a selection of Wallace and Gromit films for Christmas screenings at the British Embassy.  Helen Ward of Jack Drum Arts and Kids For Kids UK has been developing a relationship with communities in Lao PDR over the past 2 years and this initiative is set to be the most ambitious yet.

'Winston on the Run'

Jen Henry, 2007 Fellow, runs Cheshire Rural Touring Arts which organises professional theatre, music and dance shows at various rural locations. This autumn, the company will be presenting the young Winston Churchill called 'Winston on the Run' by Fol Espoir Theatre. It is the true story of young Winston's escape as a prisoner of War camp in Africa in 1899. Led by industry experts, BFI Film Academy courses cover every area of the film industry, enabling young people to develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills to help make a career in film a reality. Now in its second year, the BFI Film Academy is building on previous success to extend its reach across the UK into Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales offering a total of 900 places across all courses – up from just under 500 in 2012. Largest number to date at AGM

The committee are pleased to announce that we will have 56 Fellows and their guests attending the AGM and meeting on Saturday 16th March 2013 at the Lit and Phil in Newcastle.
This is the largest number of participants to one of our events to date and we can not wait to see you all next Saturday. WE will be joined by Jamie and Julia who I'm sure will be impressed with the turn out.
